How this site collects and uses visit data

To understand how the Capstone program's outreach is working — which pages people read, which links and emails actually bring visitors, and whether the site is easy to use — this site collects visit data about everyone who browses it, including anonymous (not signed-in) visitors.

What's collected

• Pages viewed, links and buttons clicked, how far you scroll, and how long you spend reading (dwell time)
• Device/browser info (browser, OS, screen size), approximate location (city/region from your IP address — never precise GPS)
• Your IP address, in full — visible to site administrators only
• Where you arrived from (search engine, social media, a link we posted, an email we sent)
• Session recordings for a sample of visits, so we can see how the site is actually used — any password, one-time code, or free-text field is masked before it's ever recorded

What's NOT collected

• No browser fingerprinting (no canvas, WebGL, or audio probing)
• No third-party trackers, ad pixels, or analytics services of any kind — everything described here runs on our own server, in our own database. Nothing is ever sold or shared with anyone outside the program.
• Passwords and one-time sign-in codes are never recorded, even in session replays

Signed-in students

If you're a student signed in to the portal, your activity is captured the same way, but it's treated as education-related data: visible only to site administrators (and to you, for your own activity), never included in exports, and never shared outside the program.

Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control

We honor these signals as a request not to have your data sold or shared — which we never do with anyone, signal or not. Because nothing here is shared or sold, a DNT/GPC signal doesn't change what first-party data we collect for our own use in understanding and improving the program.

Your choice

You can opt out of all of the above at any time, from any device — this immediately stops collection in your browser and never links your visit to your identity.
