Presentation materials

Most teams prepare a project poster (PDF), a short slide deck, and a demo video or live walkthrough. For the virtual summer showcase, optimize for screen-sharing: large readable type, high-contrast visuals, and a tested demo recording as a backup.

Showcase prep checklist

Adapted for the virtual format from the College's event-preparation checklist.

Before

  • Finalize and proofread your poster and slides; export to PDF.
  • Record a backup demo video in case the live demo fails.
  • Test your camera, mic, screen-share, and internet on the meeting platform.
  • Rehearse a tight 3–5 minute pitch; time it; assign speaking parts.
  • Prepare answers to likely judge questions about design and impact.

During

  • Join early; confirm audio/video; close distracting apps and notifications.
  • Share your screen deliberately; speak clearly; make eye contact with the camera.
  • Lead with the problem and your solution; show the demo; invite questions.

After

  • Share a project link (repo / demo) and your contact for follow-ups.
  • Thank judges and sponsors; note their feedback while it's fresh.
  • Keep your poster/slides — they're great portfolio and interview material.
