Frequently asked
Does engaging cost money?
No — mentoring, judging, and hiring are free; only sponsorship involves funds, and even that has a no-cost "gift" structure.
Who owns the intellectual property?
By default, the students who build it. With IP-protected sponsorship, your company — via a student-to-company assignment plus a standard FIU educational carve-out.
How much time is it?
Mentor/PO ≈ 1–2 hrs per 2-week sprint; judging ≈ 2–3 hours.
Can I hire the students?
Yes — many partners recruit interns and new grads after seeing them work.
What about confidentiality / NDAs?
Available on the IP-protected lane; students are always offered a non-proprietary alternative with no grade impact, and FIU retains a copy for accreditation under confidentiality.
