Part of the FIU CEC Senior Design Showcase

Beyond our own summer showcase, our KFSCIS Capstone 2 teams also present at the College-wide CEC Senior Design Showcase — the big spring event at the FIU Arena / Ocean Bank Convocation Center, with ~500 graduating seniors across 8 industry pavilions. Two of those pavilions are where our computing projects fit: Enterprise IT & Cybersecurity and AI & Machine Learning. For that joint event's logistics, registration, sponsorship, and judging, see capstone.cec.fiu.edu. Our Summer KFSCIS Virtual Showcase above remains our own primary event.

About our showcases

Each term, our Knight Foundation School of Computing & Information Sciences (KFSCIS) seniors present their Capstone Projects — what we historically called Senior Projects. Summer showcases are hosted by KFSCIS on their own and held virtually. Fall showcases are typically coordinated with the broader College of Engineering & Computing (CEC) — sometimes co-located, sometimes spanning two days or multiple locations. Spring is the College's flagship Senior Design Showcase, bringing together students from every CEC school and department — across the College these projects are known as Senior Design Projects — typically on the last Friday of the semester, just before finals week, often at the FIU Arena. This site focuses on KFSCIS Capstone Projects; when an event is held jointly with the College, we'll note it, but our showcase pages center on our own students and their work.

CSTeam 2D Platformer Video Game

"Delivery Rush" A 3D Delivery Driver Video Game in Unity

This project is focused on creating a 3D video game, using software such as Unity game engine and Blender, in which a player drives a car around a city picking up and delivering food orders to earn money within a limited time frame. Team members will learn to use the Unity scene editor to create custom game levels while using the C# programming language for scripting and GUI. Our group will also create our own asset models in Blender. Depending on time and group pacing, our team may also create custom graphic/animation/sound assets for our project.

CSTeam Capstone Colaboration Platform

CSTeam OBDII Car/Code Scanner

OBDII Car/Code Scanner

OBD Suite is a native Windows diagnostic application that turns a vehicle's raw OBD-II data into clear, actionable information - live sensor readings, trouble codes explained in plain language with severity, freeze-frame snapshots, and a 0-100 vehicle-health score. Every feature works identically over a custom-built ESP32 scanner, any commercial ELM327 adapter, or the built-in software emulator, all behind one unified interface - so drivers, students, and independent mechanics can diagnose any OBD-II vehicle without a costly dealer visit or proprietary tools.

CYTeam SecureShop

SecureShop

SecureShop is a web-based shopping cart application developed to demonstrate e-commerce functionality while evaluating common cybersecurity risks. The project includes a cybersecurity risk assessment using OWASP ZAP to identify vulnerabilities, rate risks, and recommend security controls. Key findings included SQL Injection, Reflected Cross-Site Scripting, missing CSRF protection, and missing HTTP security headers.

ITTeam Centralized Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Identity Management Server

Centralized Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Identity Management Server

A centralized authentication and authorization service that replaces per-service access checks with one trusted authority. Users log in once, and the server issues a signed RS256 JWT carrying their roles and permissions; every downstream request is validated against that single source of truth rather than decided locally. Built by a five-person capstone team as a Go auth server, a Go downstream resource service, and a normalized PostgreSQL RBAC schema, orchestrated with Docker Compose.
